New Year's Day (And Night) At Perdido Key, FL
Getting Busy - January 1, 2023
Night Photos

What did I do for the first day of the new year? Worked on the boat, of course.
I fell out early New Year's Eve and missed the midnight change of years. However, I woke up early and it was sunny and almost no wind. So I decided to add a coating of water repellent to the canvas dodger and bimini top (it was dripping in places when it rains). There's a lot of electronics on the helm pedestal and I don't want water dripping on it when we're underway.
I got out my 1/2 gallon pump up sprayer and a gallon of 303 fabric treatment (water repellent) and started applying to the top (from some precarious positions).

All was going well until I was finished. When completed, there was some still in the sprayer, so I decided to finish it off hitting the area over the helm seat and pedestal again. As it got to the end, air was spewing out with the last dregs of 303. Then the fumes hit me, my head started spinning, I saw little sparks and dots,, and I felt like I was going to pass out. I quickly set everything down and crawled into the cockpit to sit, rather than fall. Then, when I recovered a bit, I went inside the boat to recuperate.

I was going to apply the new port of call letters to the sides of the boat, but didn't feel like hanging over the side while still swimmy headed (didn't want to take a swim, lol). So instead, I repaired the anchor/chain washdown hose.

I also downloaded and purchased the Windy Pro app, so I can monitor weather when I can't get on my PC.

-- Nothing like gassing yourself on the first day of the year, lol

Instruments On The Helm Pedestal.
The iPad mini is showing the route we will follow to Destin. You merely zoom in and follow the line and it avoids shallows and obstructions.
There's even a hand-held remote control so you can steer from anywhere on the boat.
The main chart plotter is sort of flashed out from the phone camera, but it has options to show route,
AIS (other boats, even by name) radar on a split screen, etc.

A cup for Karen, a cup for me, a cup for Neptune and a cup for Poseidon (not taking any chances, lol)
